9 January 1903 - The Lowden News

The sadness of the death of Lester Meyer, the eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Meyer, touched the hearts of all in the community. Death came to the relief of the boy on Thursday morning. On Tuesday afternoon after returning home from school, Lester was with the dog and got too close to the heels of a horse which kicked, more at the dog than Lester, striking him in the face. He did not realize that he was badly hurt and on going to the house asked his mother if his nose was broken. Not only was his nose broken but the bones of his cheeks were also crushed. On Sunday occurred the funeral which was largely attended and was conducted by Rev. John Herrmann. Burial took place in the Clarence cemetery.
