Funeral service was held Sunday, April 6th, 1952, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sheets funeral home in Tipton for John Thompson who passed away a few days prior. The service was conducted by Gordon Smith. Interment was made in the Mount Zion cemetery.

John Thompson, son of Alexander and Anna Boyle Thompson, was born on a farm near Tipton, Iowa, March 21st, 1877. He lived on this farm most of the days of his life and it was here that he was found dead on or about April 2, 1952, at the age of 75 years and a few days. Having lived in the Mt. Zion community so many years, he was well known, had many good friends and was a familiar figure on the highways in and around that neighborhood. Mr. Thompson never married.

The deceased is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mattie Henderson, a nephew Douglas Thompson and two nieces, Mrs. Wilma Isabel and Mrs. Mary Maisack, also seven grand-nieces and nephews. His parents, one sister and one brother, preceded him in death.
