Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Clarence B. Rife, 86, were held Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2:30 p.m. in the Horner Funeral home. The Rev. Donald Wooge officiated at the service and Mrs. Wayne Brown was organist. Luverne Weber, Merle Weber, William Weber, Roxy Scott, Glen Kamerling Jr. and Charles Branaman were pallbearers with burial in Rose Hill cemetery.
Mr. Rife died in Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Oct. 30, following a long illness. Clarence Boyd Rife was born March 21, 1889, the son of James B. and Emma Neinegar Rife in Cumberland county, Pa. He moved to Iowa when he was 20 years of age and lived in the Clarence community for 7 years. He was married to Irene V. Yeater, Jan. 28, 1914 in Clarence. They farmed for many years before retiring and moving to Mechanicsville.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, a son, James and 3 daughters, Mrs. Don (Violet) Kamberling, Lisbon; Mrs. Kenneth (Margaret) Kadlec and Mrs. Gene (Donna Fay) Arthur, Ashville, N. C. Also 3 sisters, Grace Orris, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Pearl Bronizer, Carlisle, Pa.; Florence Garlen, Newville, Pa., and 2 brothers, Brinton Rife, also of Newville and Charles Rife, Wilton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildlren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and a son.
