Funeral services for Fred Martin Bammert, 79, were held at the Horner Funeral home, Mechanicsville, Oct. 20 with the Rev. Ralph B. Colton officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Koch, David Bammert, Stephen McKee, Mark Colton, Robert Alan Hughes and Patrick Koch. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel and Matthew McKee, Richard Hughes, Paul Colton and Thomas Koch.
Mr. Bammert died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Oct. 17.
The son of Meinrod J. and Frances Irene Mason Bammert, he was born at Red Wing, Minn., and attended school at Sioux City. He was married to Elva Hopper at Iowa City, Jan. 15, 1925.
A food stock operator at Wilson and Co. for many years, he lived in Mechanicsville for the past 8 years. He was a member of St. Clair Memorial Presbyterian church of Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Melvin, Cedar Rapids, 5 daughters, Mrs. William (Laverna) Koch, Mechanicsville; Mrs. Marvin (Lois) Colton, Centerville; Mrs. Donald (Bonnie) Hughes, Martelle; Mrs. Stanley (Myrna) McKee and Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Kupps, both of Cedar Rapids; 2 sisters, Mrs. Arthur Techau, Fairbault, Minn., and Mrs. Homer Cooper, Denver, Colo.; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a granddaughter.
