Funeral services for Etta Wilson Smith, 95, will be held at the Stanwood Methodist church at 1:30 p.m. today (Sept. 25).
Mrs. Smith died at a Mt. Vernon nursing home Sept. 22, following a long illness.
Born in Stanwood March 22, 1880, she graduated from Stanwood high school and was married to William G. Smith in Stanwood January 9, 1919. A graduate of the school of nursing of Presbyterian hospital, Chicago, Ill., she was a registered nurse for 50 years.
She was active in Cedar county Republican politics for many years. She was a delegate to the state convention in 1940, she was a member of the Stanwood cemetery association, a charter member of the women's club and took part in the ladies aid of the Methodist church and Easter Seal activities.
She is survived by a son, Donald E., Cedar Rapids, a granddaughter, Mrs. Susan K. Morrissey, Mt. Vernon and 2 great-grandchildren.
