Arthur W. Lyle, 96, Clarence's Oldest Resident, Dies

Funeral services for Arthur W. Lyle, 96, Clarence's oldest resident, were held at the Clarence Methodist church Dec. 19 with the Rev. Donald Kehrli officiating. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

Mr. Lyle died at the Clarence nursing home Dec. 17. He had been a resident of the home for a year.

The son of Alonzo and Ella Wampler Lyle, he was born Sept. 2, 1879 in Clarence. He was married to Clara Belle McKnight at Tipton June 14, 1922.

A retired Clarence businessman, Mr. Lyle was a 50 year member of Mt. Hope Lodge, AF&AM and a member of the United Methodist church.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Felix Jones, Denver, Colo.; 2 sons, Harold McKnight, Burlington and Howard McKnight, Cedar Rapids and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife.
