19 March 1942 - The Clarence Sun

Henry, son of Jesse and Anne Britcher, was born in the Clarence vicinity of Cedar county, Iowa, February 19, 1869, and died at his home at Clarence the morning of Monday, March 16, 1942, at the age of seventy-three years and twenty-six days.

Mr. Britcher's parents came from England to Connecticut before they were married. During the year 1856 they established their home in Cedar county.

On January 12, 1898, Mr. Britcher and Louella Warrall were married. They became the parents of nine children, three of whom died in early childhood and Charles in 1934.

Louella died October 5, 1922. During the following years Mr. Britcher kept the home for the children and was both father and mother to them. In 1929, February 20, Sadie Eva Bartley became his wife.

Mr. Britcher entered the fellowship of the Clarence Methodist church under the pastorate of the Rev. S. S. Smith February 13, 1910, and remained a member to the end of his life.

Those who remain to sorrow are: his companion; two brothers, Sion of Stanwood and Fred E. who lives in Canada; three sons, Loren of Muscatine, Myron and Howard of Clarence; one step-son, Sherman Bartley of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mary Clemmens of Clarence and Dorothy Taylor of Onslow and nineteen grandchildren.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon, March 19, 1932, at the Methodist church and was conducted by Reverend A. B. Chamberlin. The pallbearers were: Arthur Miller, John Budelier, William Schilling, August Dettmann, Joe Baker, George Ruprecht. In charge of the flowers: Mrs. Arthur Miller and Mrs. John Budelier. W. W. Weatherwax sang, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Elijah.

Interment was in the Clarence cemetery.
