Burial services were held Tuesday at the Lowden cemetery for Charles Burmeister, 80 of Clarence, who died suddenly at his home south of Clarence, Saturday.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. in St John United Church of Christ, Clarence with the Rev Calvin Schumacher in charge. Hymns were sung by the church choir. Mrs Robert Hasselbusch was organist.
Serving as pallbearers were Norman Burmeister, Carol Burmeister, Dale Burmeister, Irwin Burmeister, Lloyd Burmeister and John Feddersen, Jr. Mrs Roy Werner and Mrs Raymond Schaefer had charge of flowers.
He was born in Lowden. He married Alvina Gade at Clinton, Iowa in 1917. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mrs Charles Hodgden, Mount Vernon, Iowa, and Mrs Barnell Rowold, Stanwood, Iowa; sons, Lawrence, Springville, Iowa, and Harold, Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Karl Ruchotzke, Clarence, and brothers, Henry, Lowden, and John, Clarence.
