Hugo Meyer, 63, died suddenly at his farm home just east of Lowden around noon Tuesday.

Funeral services are planned at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran church here. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapman funeral home in Clarence.

Mr Meyer is survived by his widow, Alice; one son, Robert of Lowden; five daughters, Mrs Dorance (Dorothy) Scheer and Phyllis of Cedar Rapids, Mrs Bob (Carol) Lake of Iowa City, Mrs William (Arlene) Berntsen of Portage, Ind., and Janice at home. Also 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Frieda Sander and Mrs Otto Stolte of Lowden; two brothers, August of Lowden and Ben of LaPorte City; also two half-sisters, Mrs Wm. C. Bicknese and Mrs Celia Clemmens, and one half-brother, Fred Daehn, all of Lowden.

Burial services for Hugo W. Meyer, 63, were held Friday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden. The Rev. Th. J. Eickelberg officiated. A brief prayer service was held at 1 p.m. in the home. Music was supplied by Trinity Male Chorus with Mrs Lorenz Hoffmeier presiding at the organ. Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs Arnom Meier, Mrs Arnold Sobotka, Mrs Arnold Koch, and Miss Ruth Nieting were in charge of flowers. Pallbearers were Elmer Meyer, Lewis Sander, Leonard Kroemer, Everett Kroemer, Dale Meyer and Gerhard Daehn.

Mr Meyer died suddenly on May 15 at his home east of Lowden. Although he had been in immpaired health the past 12 years, his death came as a shock to his family and friends.

Hugo William Louis Meyer was born on May 27, 1898. He was the son of August Meyer and his wife Johannah, nee Heineman. Baptized on July 3, 1898, he was educated in the public school and in Trinity Day School, and was confirmed by the late Rev. J. H. Brammer on March 31, 1912. As a young man he assisted his parents on the farm.

On Feb. 15, 1925 the deceased was united in marriage to Alice Kroemer of Lowden. Six children were born to this uniion, one son and five daughters.

Mr Meyer operated the parental farm east of Lowden throughout his married life, the last few years in partnership with his son. As a lifelong member of Trinity congregation, he served one term as a member of the school board, and several years as a member of the board of trustees, his physical condition limiting his activity in recent years, both at home and in his church.

He is survived by his wife; his son, Robert; his five daughters, Phyllis, and Dorothy (Mrs Dorance Scheer), both of Cedar Rapids; Carol (Mrs Bob Lake) of Iowa City; Arlene (Mrs William Berntsen) of Portage, Ind.; and Janice, at home, and 11 grandchildren. Also two brothers, Ben of LaPorte City, and August of Lowden; two sisters, Mrs Frieda Sander and Mrs Otto Stolte, both of Lowden; one half-brother, Fred Daehn of Lowden; and two half-sisters, Mrs Celia Clemmens and Mrs William Bicknese, both of Lowden.

Two brothers, Walter and Herbert, of Lowden, and one half-sister, Mrs Gus Horstmann, of Wheatland, preceded him in death.

Those attending the funeral from out of town included Mr and Mrs Ben Meyer, LaPorte City, Iowa; Mrs Mae Heineman, Milwaukee, Wis.; O. E. Lake, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs Carrie Behrens and Mr and Mrs Bill Kempke, Des Plaines, Ill., Mrs Stuart Timm, Elmwood Park, Ill.; Mrs Adolph Schneebeli, Roselle, Ill.; Mr and Mrs Henry Scheer, Mrs Gertrude Benecke, Mrs Richard Kottmeier and Mrs Hildegarde Kottmeier of Cedar Rapids; Mr and Mrs Leonard Stewart, Springville; Mr and Mrs Dale Meyer, Marion; Oral Ellison, West Branch, and Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Smith of Clarence. Others were from the surrounding area.
