TIPTON, Iowa – Keith Henry Hamiel, 73, of 603 E. 7th St., died July 8, 2003, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery, with Military graveside rites by Tipton VFW Post 2537 and American Legion Post 123. The Rev. Jon smith will officiate.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Keith was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Tipton, to Marion Claire and Thelma Eunice (Davis) Hamiel. He was a 1947 Tipton High School graduate and a 1961 graduate of the University of Iowa. He married Janet Louise Yerington on July 2, 1954 in Tipton. He was a steel worker at North Star Steel, Wilton, for 20 years. He was a member of Tipton Bible Church and Tipton American Legion Gary Whalen Post 123 and had served in the Army.

Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or Tipton Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; three daughters, Becky Peters, and husband, Rick, of Muscatine, Terri Hamiel, of Atlanta, Ga., and Crystal Weitz, and husband, Bruce, of Ankeny; three sons, James Hamiel, of England, Mark Hamiel, of Tipton, and Brian Hamiel and his wife, Sandi, of LaSalle, Ill.; two sisters, Eleanor Van Nostrand, of Cantril, and Carol Berrier, and husband, Galin, of Ankeny; six grandchildren; Chad, Meridel, Jonathan, Victoria, Christina and Braden; and a great-grandchild, Dylin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Hamiel; brother-in-law, Robert Van Nostrand; and niece, Erica Berrier.
