Funeral services for Mrs. Hugo (Martha) Wendt, 70, were held at the Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, April 18 with the Rev. Earl Elowsky officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.
Pallbearers were Herbert Wenndt, J. E. Shriver, Lawrence Conrad, Robert Wendt, Leroy Wendt, George Russ. Mrs Herbert Wenndt and Mrs Everett Bixler were in charge of flowers.
Life's sunset hour came by the permission of Almighty God, author of Life and Lord of Death, transplanting into life Eternal the soul of Mrs Martha (Russ) Wendt.
She was born at Rock Island, Ill. on Oct. 30, 1900 the daughter of George and Maria (Albright) Russ. She moved to Laverne, Minnesota when she was a small girl and then to Iowa to a farm between Bennett and Wheatland.
on June 12, 1919 she was united in marriage to Hugo Wendt of Clarence. They spent their entire married life in Cedar and Jones county.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden; American Legion Auxiliary and the Amvets.
On Thursday, April 15, 1971, she was called to eternal rest in her home after a brief illness.
Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Hugo; a daughter Berniece (Mrs Merle Feddersen); two sons, Albert of Phoenix, Ariz. and Freeman of Clarence; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; a brother Arthur Russ, Lowden; other relatives and a host of friends.
She acquired the age of 70 years, 5 months, 15 days.
