My great aunts families surname is Baller. They came from Pommern in 1877. We believe they first settled in Cass county Iowa. Names were Hermann and Johanna. Hermann born 1831 in Steglin, Pommern died 23 Jun 1891. Buried at the Maple Grove cemetery in Audubon county. I find him in Hamlin township in 1885 census. His wife Johanna "Hannah" was born 1830 in Pommern and died 1904 in McCool, NE. Their children(that I know of) were Amelia and Frank. I find Frank living with wife Bertha (maiden name Laper) in the 1880 census of Atlantic IA. Frank was born 25 Sep 1859 in Pommern and died 9 Sep 1937 in McCool, NE. Berth born 1855, died 1904 in McCool as well. I cannot find a census record for Herman and Hannah for 1880. They all came over together on the boat in 1877, so I would assume that he was in Atlantic with his sons family. I would assume their daughter Amelia would be living with them, as she was born in 1867 in Pommern. I cant find the census records and I really want an obituary on Herman and his granddaughter, Augusta "Gusta". She is buried at the same cemetery as Herman born 7 Apr 1878 died 20 Nov 1890. I had contated someone at the Audubon library and she said they werent listed in the Audubon county deaths! I did find that Frank and Bertha were married 7 Sept 1878 in Cass County.Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! The goal is to find the names of Hermans parents. There are 2 Ballers Fred and Fredricke Baller (Husband and wife) that are buried very close to Herman and Gusta. Their family is on here but we can't make a connection. We don't know if Herman and Fred were brothers? No idea! Such a rare name to be buried next to each other and NOT be related!!! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I would love to have some info for my aunts 90th bday, as she's REALLY interested in her lineage! My email address is stljenandjon@hotmail.com Anyone is welcome to contact me in regards to this. Thanks so much..
Jen
