Farmers Messenger, Thursday, January 2, 1908, pg. 8, col. 4:Was Accidentally Killed.
Mrs. Anna Woolsey, wife of Brig Woolsey of this place, was accidentally shot and almost instantly killed by Walter McCarville, a young boy 16 years of age, while shooting with a 22 calibre rifle. Mrs. Woolsey was hanging out some clothes and the boy was shooting at a can when one of the bullets went wild and struck Mrs. Woolsey in the back. She fell to the ground and died in a few minutes. The coroner was called and concluded it was accidental but left the case open for further investigation. Mrs. Woolsey had called at the boy not to shoot her but the warning seems to have had no effect.
