Retired Corning Farmer Dies

George Nolte, 71, of Massena, former Corning area farmer, died sunday afternoon at the Cass County Hospital, where he was admitted Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Lakin Funeral Home in Corning. Burial will be at the Quincy Cemetery at Corning and a visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Massena Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Nolte was born March 15, 1908 on a farm near Milo and was married to Mary Lucille Batten June 25, 1927, in Knoxville.

He moved to a farm near Corning in 1941, and retired to Massena in 1972.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert of Corning and Richard, of Marion; two daughters Patricia Waltman of Corwith and Betty Hurt of Colorado Springs, Colo; a sister; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Wilmarth and a brother.
