Rites Tuesday For Ethel Koob
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Eva Koob, 92, former Anita resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Anita, with Rev. Joseph Henry officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Anita. A visitation will be held from 7:30-8:30 this evening at the Roland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Koob died Thursday afternoon at Denver, Colo., where she had made her home with a daughter for the last 10 years. She was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Denver by a flight for life helicopter, but was listed as dead on arrival at the hospital.
The daughter of William Gordon and Mary Elizabeth Wright Wilson, she was born Jan. 21, 1887, about 5 1/2 miles north of Anita in Audubon County. She was married to Lafe Koob Feb. 21, 1906, at the home of her parents and the couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 1968.
Following their marriage they lived on a farm north of Anita until 1919, when they moved to Anita. She lived in Anita until 1970, when she moved to Denver to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Ronald and Ruth Ridenour.
Mrs. Koob was a member of the Anita Methodist Church, a past Sund[a]y school superintendent; a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a past president of the PTA, a life member of the Columbia Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a charter member of the Past Matrons Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Hallie Mae) McBride of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Ronald (Ruth) Ridenour of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Charlotte Thompson of Denver, Colo; four grandchildren Ronald Dean Ridenour of Denver, Colo., William McBride of Dover, N.J., Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Everist of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mrs. Margaret Kay Wikoff pf Denver, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Penny McBride, William McBride Jr., Steven Everist and Michael Everist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Nov. 8, 1968; an infant daughter, Helen Evangeline; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Mae Wilson; five brothers, Curt, Ellsworth and Byrd Benson, Ed and Jess Wilson.
