THOMAS HARRIS, LIFELONG CASS RESIDENT, DIES

Thomas Milton [Milten] Harris, 83-year-old retired farmer, who lived in Cass county throughout his life, died at 11:15 p. m. Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Miller, near Grant.

Suffering from a complication of diseases, incident to his advanced age, he had been in poor health for some time and had been bedfast for the past several weeks.

Mr. Harris was born May 17, 1857, on a farm south of Atlantic—a dozen years before there was an Atlantic. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Harris, pioneers of this vicinity.

He was married to Ada [Adda] Elnora Morrow on Sept. 11, 1895, and operated a farm north of Atlantic until 1903, when they retired and moved into town. For the past year and a half the couple have lived with their daughter, near Grant.

Mr. Harris had been a member of the Methodist church since boyhood.

He is survived by his wife; three daughter, Mrs. Asa Miller of Grant, Mrs. Worth E. Gingery of Long Beach, Cal., and Mrs. Harold C. Landmesser of Los Angeles, Cal.; four grandchildren; and a brother C. W. Harris, of Ottumwa. A son, Clarence, died in 1930.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home, with the Rev. Claude W. Cooper of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Atlantic cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the services.
