WELL KNOWN LADY HAS PASSED AWAY

Mrs. Helen E. Day, Widely Known and Loved Woman, Passes Away at Her Home on Cedar Street Early This Morning.

Mrs. Helen E. Day, wife of Charles A. Day, a woman widely known in the city and county, where she had lived since 1873, and loved and respected by all who knew her, died at 7:30 this morning at her home, 305 Cedar street, death resulting from the infirmities of age and cancer, with which she had been afflicted for more than four years, and for the relief of which she submitted to an operation four years ago. She was taken bad again about sixteen months ago and she was bedfast in her last illness for four weeks.

Deceased was born at Newark N. J., on the 7th of May, 1833, being the daughter of Abner Kent and wife. She attended school at Newark and was a school teacher in that city, where she was married to John E Wright and in 1858 they came to Burlington in this state and they moved to Bear Grove township in this county in 1873 where they lived on a farm and Mr. Wright died in 1884, after they had come to this city in 1883. He was a carpenter by trade and followed that occupation until his death.

On the 4th of June, 1887, she was married in this city to Chas. A. Day, the well known contractor, who survives her. The following children by her former husband, Mr. Wright survive her; Mrs. Mary Stormer of Bear Grove township, Mrs. Rose Johnson of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Nellie Goodale of this city, Joseph Courter of Sacramento, Calif., is a son by a previous marriage. She leaves no brothers or sisters. Deceased was a member of the W. R. C., the Maccabees and the Church of Christ.

The funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Church of Christ, and the interment made in the Atlantic cemetery. The casket will not be opened at the church and friends are requested to call at the home between 10 and 11:30 a. m. of that day.

FUNERAL OF MRS. DAY

The funeral services for the late Mrs. C. A. Day were held this afternoon at the Church of Christ, the Rev. B. F. Hall officiating, and the interment being made in the Atlantic cemetery. The pallbearers were M. H. Funk, O. O. Conley, J. O. Fudge, J. S. Pressnall, H. M. Brown and F. M. Nutter. The Ladies of the Maccabees and the W. R. C. attended in a body and the former had charge of the services at the grave.
