JOHN BERRY, 82, DIES TODAY AT DES MOINES

John Baxter Berry, 82, former Cass county farmer and a resident of Atlantic for several years, died at the home of his son, Ernest Berry, in Des Moines this morning. Death was attributed to complications due to his advanced age.

Mr. Berry was born in Petersburg, Ill., on Jan. 7, 1856, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Berry. He was married to Miss Jane Taylor on March 18, 1881, and they rsided [resided] on farms in the Lewis and Atlantic vicinity for many years and later retired and lived in Atlantic before going to California where Mrs. Berry did [died] in 1933. The past few years Mr. Berry had lived with his children.

Surviving are two sons, Ernest of Des Moines and Elmer of Creston, and one daughter, Mrs Alma Christensen of California. Another daughter, Mrs. Frank Breece of Atlantic, died several years ago. Two children died in infancy. A brother, S. E. Berry, lives in Delmont, S. D.

The body was brought to the Roland, Peacock and Baxter funeral home here today. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
