Mrs. Joe Karwal Dies Suddenly This Morning

Mrs. Maria Elizabeth Karwal, 53, wife of Joe F. Karwal, 701 1/2 East Ninth street, died suddenly at the Atlantic Memorial hospital at 10 o’clock this morning following a heart attack. She had been in her usual health until stricken and died a few minutes after being taken to the hospital.

Mrs. Karwal was born north of Atlantic March 10, 1897, the daughter of Edward E. and Margaret Acker Harris, and had been a resident of the Atlantic vicinity all of her life. She was married to Mr. Karwal in Omaha May 7, 1914, and they farmed in the Atlantic vicinity until moving here in 1946. Mrs. Karwal was a member of the Buck Creek Methodist church.

Surviving besides the husband are a son, Harold Karwal of Brayton; a sister, Mrs. C. E. Malone of Atlantic; two brothers, Ira and Leo Harris of Atlantic, and two grandsons, Joe and William Karwal of Brayton. A sister, Mrs. Shelley [Shelly] Smith, died May 31, 1948, and a brother, Lester Harris, died in 1910. Another sister, Myrty [Mertie], died at the age of two years.

The remains are at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home. No funeral arrangements have been made.
