Funeral Service For Dale Butler Here Friday

Funeral services for Dale Bradbury Butler, 80, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Roland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Mr. Butler, a resident of 407 West Sixth and a retired area farmer, died Tuesday morning at the Cass county Memorial Hospital.

He was active in 4-H club work in the county for many years, serving as a club leader and superintendent of 4-H demonstration and was bestowed a lifetime membership by the Cass County 4-H organization.

Mr. Butler was also active in senior citizens organizations, serving as one of the founders of the Atlantic Senior Citizens Center and he and his wife were the first co-presidents, serving for 2 1/2 years.

The son of John Bradbury and Martha Ellen McFarland Butler, he was born north of Atlantic May 11, 1903, and was married to Irene Faith Herbert at her parents home north of Atlantic March 12, 1929. They farmed north of Atlantic in Pymosa Township until retiring and moving to Atlantic in 1965.

Following retirement from the farm, he worked for Malone Seed Company and the Atlantic Golf and Country Club.

He was a lifelong member of the Buck Creek Methodist Church and has been a lay speaker in the church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, John Roy Butler of Treynor and Edward Dale Butler of Oskaloosa; a son-in-law, Lloyd Donald Dreager of Atlantic; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Bob (Diane) Voss, Duane and Donald Dreager, Jerry, Barry and Larry Butler, Amy and Lisa Butler; five great-grandchildren, Teresa and Brenda Voss and John, Melissa and Joseph Dreager; two sisters, Myrle Butler and Mrs. Frank (Thelma) Just of Atlantic; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Dreager in 1975; his parents; a brother, Guy Butler; a sister, Opal Butler; and three sisters in infancy.

A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Roland Funeral Home.
