Saturday Rites For Kenneth Butler Of Atlantic

Funeral service for Kenneth Raymond Butler, 66, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chuck Smith of the Buck Creek Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Mr. Butler, a resident of 801 Spruce, died Wednesday afternoon at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. He was a former employee of Cass county for 27 years and worked first in road maintenance and then as shop foreman until retiring in 1983.

The son of Guy Allison and Daisy Pearl Walker Butler, he was born in Cass County May 12, 1921, and attended rural schools near Atlantic and the Atlantic High School.

He was married to Nadine Woodring in Atlantic Oct. 31, 1939, and farmed in the Wiota and Anita vicinities for a number of years before moving to Atlantic in 1954. He was baptized at the Buck Creek Methodist Church and a member of the church.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Dennis Butler of Bellville, Kan., and his wife, Kathy; a grandson, Kenny, of Bellville; a brother, Bernard Butler of Atlantic and his wife, Eleanor; two sisters, Beverly Moller of Omaha and her husband, Ray; and Shirley Nolte of Atlantic and her husband, Don; two aunts, Irene Butler of Heritage House here and Thelma Just of the Atlantic Care Center and her husband, Frank; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine “Mickey” Grinstead, and her husband, Logan; two aunts, Opal Butler and Myrle Butler; and an uncle, Dale Butler.
