MRS. SAM JOHNSON DIED THURSDAY

Was Wife of the Sexton of the Atlantic Cemetery. --- Funeral Announcement Tomorrow

(From Thursday’s Daily)

Mrs. Sam Johnson died this morning at her home east of the city at 8:30 a. m. after being bedfast for six weeks. The famly [family] were hoping for the best but, a complication of diseases set in and she had been very low for the past few days. Mrs. Sam Johnson was born in Illinois, February 13th, 1869, coming to Atlantic with her parents when but six years of age. Her maiden name was Henrietta Simms. She was married on September 15th, 1884, to Sam Johnson, who at present time occupies the position of Sexton of the Atlantic cemetery. Mrs. Johnson is the mother of two daughters, Mrs. Clio [Cleo] Spiker and Miss Reta Johnson. She leaves, besides her husband and daughters, her mother Mrs. Simms living at 701 Olive street, five sisters and three brothers to mourn her death. Her sisters and brothers are: Mrs. Fred Porterfield and Mrs. Jenny Love of Atlantic; Mrs. Mose Goldwelll of California[,] Mrs. Tatlow of Oklahoma, Mrs. John McCallan of Brown county, Illinois, Will and A. M. Sims of Council Bluffs, and A. B. Simms of Clarence, Iowa[.] Word has been sent to those of her relatives living way from here[.] The funeral will be announced later.
