C. A. M’FARLAND CASS RESIDENT 62 YEARS, SUCCUMBS

Charles (Art) McFarland, 64, a resident of Cass county since he was two years old, died this morning at 6:40 at the Atlantic hospital, death resulting from complications. He had been in ill health about seven years.

Mr. McFarland was born Jan. 3, 1881, in Johnson county, the son of Ponathan [Jonathan] and Jane McFarland, coming to the Atlantic vicinity with his parents two years later. He farmed until ill health made it necessary for him to retire and since then he had made his home with his son, Don McFarland, of Atlantic.

Surviving besides the son are a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Lafferty, of Des Moines; a brother, Ralph McFarland, of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Charles Harris, of Long Beach, Cal., and two granddaughters, Shirley Anderson and Nita Faye McFarland. A daughter Maureen died in infancy and also preceding him in death were a sister, Mrs. John B. Butler, and a brother, Robert McFarland.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home, the Rev. C. W. Hohanshelt of Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Brighton cemetery near Marne. The remains will be at the funeral home until the service hour.
