Mildred Paasch Rites At Walnut

WALNUT – The funeral service for Mildred M. Paasch, 84, of Walnut was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Harvey Beach officiating. Burial was in the Walnut Cemetery.

She died Friday at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. The daughter of John and Cordelia Berry Burkey, she was born here Nov. 20, 1900, and graduated from the Walnut High School in 1919. She attended Drake University, receiving a teaching certificate in 1921 and was a schoolteacher in Exira and Shelby County.

Her marriage to Hugo Paasch took place Aug. 20, 1924, and they lived on the Paasch farm northeast of Walnut and later on the Burkey farm southeast of Walnut.

Mrs. Paasch was a member of the Walnut Presbyterian Church and a neighborhood club.

Surviving are two chidre [children], Shirley Leeper and her husband, Ross, of Eagle Grove and Ronald Paasch of Walnut and his wife, Mary; six grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kristen Leeper, Thien and Hieu Tran, Christopher Paasch and Cory Carr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died July 10, 1963; her parents; and a brother, Roy Burkey.

The Berthusen-Knutson Funeral Home of Walnut was in charge of arrangements.
