MARNE MAN DROPS DEAD YESTERDAY

Richard M Johnson Stricken While Doing Chores. Long Time Resident

Richard M. Johnson, 70, resident of the Marne vicinity for the last forty-one years, died suddenly last evening about 6 o’clock in the barn at his farm while doing chores. He was found a few minutes after he had dropped dead by his sister, Miss Ella Johnson when she came to the barn to assist in the milking. Mr. Johnson had been suffering from high blood pressure for several months.

Native of Indiana.

He was born June 5, 1858, near Huntsville, Ind., and came from that place to Marne forty-one years ago. Surviving is the one sister, Miss Ella Johnson, the last of a family of ten. Miss Johnson and her brother made their home together.

Mr. Johnson was a member to the Marne lodge of the Masonic fraternity.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Marne Methodist Protestant church, the Rev. Mr. Harwood, Walnut Methodist Episcopal pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Brighton cemetery. The Masonic order will be in charge.
