CASS PIONEER ANSWERS CALL LAST NIGHT HERE

Mrs. Rachael [Rachel] M. Conine, Widow of Late I. V. Conine, Died at Her Home at 84. Came Here in 1870.

Mrs. Rachel M. Conine, widow of the late Isaac Conine and a resident of Cass county since 1870, died at 12:30 last night at her home, 907 Cedar street, after an illness extending over the most of the winter. The complications of old age were the cause of death. She was eighty-four years old.

Born in Ohio.

Mrs. Conine, whose maiden name was Todd, was born at McComb, O., in 1840, and was married there on the 23rd of August, 1863, to Isaac Conine, who died a year ago. They lived in Cedar county, Ia., for a time after the Civil war in which her husband served, and in the fall of 1870, they came to this county, locating first in Grove township where they lived for a number of years and then moved to Washington township. Twenty-seven years ago they moved to this city.

Three Children.

There are three living children: Hayward Conine, north of the city; Mrs. Philip Trainer, 804 Hazel street, and Mrs. Walter Lackey of Lewis. A son, Frank Conine, died last year. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Katherine Todd, of Des Moines. The late Mrs. J. A. McWaid was a sister. There are fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral announcement is not yet made but it is probable the services will be held on Saturday.
