WELL KNOWN LADY IS DEAD

Mrs R. A. Berry Dies Last Evening At Her Home on West Tenth St., Victim of Pneumonia—Funeral Wednesday Afternoon.

Mrs. R. A. Berry, one of the best known ladies in the city, passed away last evening at her home on west Tenth street, the victim of pneumonia.

Mrs. Virginia Frances Berry, wife of Robert A. Berry, was born Dec. 10, 1848, in Campbell county, Virginia. At six years of age she moved to Winchester, Randolph county, Indiana. In 1868 she removed to Cass county, Iowa, near Marne. She was married to R. A. Berry Nov. 23, 1870. They lived on a farm two and one-half miles southwest of Marne until twelve years ago when they settled in Atlantic. To this union nine children were born, six of whom are living: Eva J. Collier of Atlantic; J. O. Berry of Atlantic; Ina H. Hallen of Walnut; Grace L. Barnard of Atlantic; Myrtle L. Neal of Atlantic and Zeta B. Berry, who lives in the home. She leaves besides her husband and family, two brothers, Phillip E. Johnson and Richard M. Johnson and three sisters, Lucy A. Johnson, Emma Johnson and Ella O. Johnson, all of Marne.

Mrs. Berry was for many years a member of the Eastern Star Golden Rule Chapter of this city and was charter matron of the Berlin chapter of Marne. She was also a member for the last eleven year of the Congregational church of this city and before that a member of the Protestant Methodist church of Marne.

Mrs. Berry was deeply interested in the work of the Congregational hurch [church] and the Eastern Star, and filled many offices in the latter. She was a most faithful worker in the church and was deeply interested in all that affected the welfare of her fellows. Her life centered in her home and family, all of whom were present when she passed away. She will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends whose lives she had brightened by many helpful deeds.

The funeral will be held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. H. O. Spelman officiating, when the Eastern Stars will also hold their services. The casket will not be opened at the church but will be at her late home until eleven o’clock Wednesday morning.

The interment will be made in the Atlantic cemetery.
