Mrs. J. W. Triplett Came to Iowa 48 Years Ago. Funeral Wednesday P. M. In Atlantic
Mrs. J. W. Triplett, a resident of Cass county for forty-eight years, passed away at 3:30 yesterday afternoon, at her home, 109 West Eight street, after an extended illness. She was past 79 years of age.
Born in Illinois.
Lauren Elizabeth Studyvin, daughter of Stephen and Nancy (Mercer) Studyvin, was born near Princeton, Ill., November 8, 1844. She was united in marriage to James William Triplett on February 1, 1865, and two years later they moved to Cass county, Mo., where they lived for a period of seven years, after which they returned to their former home at Princeton, Ill. There they remained until the spring of 1876, when they migrated to Cass county, Iowa, which has been their home continuously since. They lived first south of Atlantic, and later in Brighton township, until their retirement in 1912, when they came to this city.
Many Mourn Loss.
To this happy union were born five children, all of whom survive. They are: Dr. Marshall Triplett of Chapman, Neb.; Bert Triplett of Sioux City; Grant Triplett of Storm Lake; Jane Triplett, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Maude Baxter, 708 Locust street, Atlantic. Upon the sorrowing husband the blow of her passing falls especially severe after the fifty-nine years of companionship they were permitted to enjoy.
In addition to the immediate family above mentioned, Mrs. Triplett leaves one sister, Mrs. Sophronia Childs, 804 Chestnut street, Atlantic, and two brothers, Lewis Studyvin of Atlantic, and John Studyvin of Rock Island, Ill.; also ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Lived Christian Faith.
At an early age Mrs. Triplett was converted and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which organization she has been a earnest and conscientious worker, inculcating in her every day life the teachings and precepts of the Lowly Nazarene. She was also a member of Golden Rule Chapter Number 194, Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Baxter, 708 Locust street, with interment in the Atlantic cemetery. The Rev. M. A. Cable will officiate.
