J. W. TRIPLETT, 85, PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY HERE

Native of Illinois Had Been Cass County Citizen More Than Half Century. Funeral Tomorrow.

James William Triplett, 85, retired farmer and a resident of Cass county for more than a half century, died Saturday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Baxter, 705 Locust street. Death was due to old age. Mr. Triplett had been in failing health for some time.

Farmed Near Marne.

He was born in Princeton, Ill., Jan. 19, 1844, the son of Samuel and Mary Triplett and was married there to Miss Lauren Elizabeth Studyvin Feb. 1, 1865. In 1876, Mr. and Mrs. Triplett came to Cass county and lived for many years on a farm northwest of Atlantic, later moving to Marne. Mr. Triplett had been a resident of Atlantic for the last sixteen years. Mrs. Triplett died March 24, 1924. Since that time, Mr. Triplett had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Baxter.

Surviving are four sons, the daughter, Mrs. Baxter, and one sister. The sons are Dr. Marshall Triplett of Grand Island, Neb., H. A. Triplett of Sioux City, G. M. Triplett of Storm Lake and J. E. Triplett of Sawtelle, Cal. The sister is Mrs. Florence Marsh of Wilmette, Ill., and Mrs. June Childs, well know local woman, and Lew Studyvin of the Lewis vicinity are sister-in-law and brother-in-law respectively of Mr. Triplett. There are ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mason Thirty Years.

The decedent was a member of the Marne Masonic order for thirty years and of the Atlantic Methodist Episcopal church.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home, the Rev. W. H. Meredith of the local Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Atlantic cemetery.
