Lucille Cristine Shey, 88 of Griswold, formerly of Atlantic, died Friday afternoon, March 8 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of the Griswold Care Center in Griswold. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic church in Atlantic with Father Howard Kalb officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery. A vigil will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.

The daughter of William Theodore and Barbara Metz Bintner, she was born Jan. 26, 1908, in rural Brayton. She grew up in the Anita area and attended rural school there. Lucille taught country school before and after her marriage. She was united in marriage to Howard J. Shey on Feb. 16, 1935, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wiota. She also was a drape maker in Atlantic. She was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry (Jeremiah) in 1973; a brother, William Bintner; and three sisters, Clara White, Hilda Kurtenbach, and Sister Marie Celine Bintner.

Surviving are her husband, Howard of Atlantic; a son, James Shey of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter, Mary Joan and husband Richard of Dallas, Texas; four grandsons, Mike and Matt Shey of Milwaukee; and Alan Pogue of Little Rock, Ark.; and Jerry Pogue of Dallas; two brothers, Michael Bintner and wife Irene of Laramie, Wyo.; and Paul Bintner and wife Joan of Council Bluffs; a sister, Sister Marianne Bintner of Council bluffs; and a sister-in-law, Louise Bintner of Seal Beach Calif.
