MRS. J. W. BLAKE, RESIDENT OF CASS FORTY YEARS, DIES

Passed Away Early Today Following an Illness of Two Years, Native of Illinois.

Mrs. Dulsena [Dulcina] Blake, 63, wife, of Joseph W. Blake, well known farmer living three miles northeast of Atlantic, and resident of Cass county for forty years, passed away at 1 o’clock this morning at her home. Mrs. Blake had been in failing health for the last two years with complication of arthritis.

Mrs. Blake, the daughter of George and Mary Jane Berry, was born near Petersburg, Ill., Aug. 9, 1867. She spent her early childhood in Illinois, later moving with her parents to Missouri where she lived ten years. The family then moved to Iowa where she had spent the remainder of her life.

On July 27, 1898, she was united in marriage to Mr. Blake and this union was blessed with four children, Miss Mildred, Miss Bev and Bruce Blake at home and Niles Blake of near Marne. Surviving besides her mother are four brothers, M. A. Berry and A. M. Berry of Lincoln, Neb., Sam Berry and J. N. Berry of Atlantic. Her father and one brother, F. A. Berry, preceded her in death several years ago.

All her life Mrs. Blake had been a devoted Christian and church worker.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the local First Congregational church. The Rev. Ralph B. Noyce will have charge of the rites and interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.
