Former Atlantic Businessman Dies

ATLANTIC – Henry F. [P.] Baxter, 86, retired businessman, died Thursday after a long illness.

A native of Lewis, he had lived in Atlantic since 1917. He was in the real estate and insurance business before he bought an interest in a furniture and undertaking business.

Mr. Baxter operated a furniture business with J. H. Peacock until 1940 and continued with the funeral service with Peacock and Burdette Roland until 1947, when he retired.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter; two step-sons; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at the Roland Funeral Home.
