RITES HELD FRIDAY FOR MRS. LYDIA SHEY

Funeral services were held Friday morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Wiota for Mrs. Lydia Shey, 91, pioneer resident of Cass county and the Wiota vicinity, who died Tuesday evening of last week at her home in Wiota. She had been in ill health for some time. Burial was in the Atlantic Catholic cemetery.

Casket bearers were Howard Shey, Paul McMahon, Eugene Ehrman, George C. Shey, D. Jerry Shey, and Michael E. Shey.

Mrs. Shey, a native of Ohio, came to Cass county in a covered wagon with her parents when she was four years old, and lived in the Wiota vicinity since that time. She was married in 1884 to Jerry M. Shey, who preceded her in death in 1944.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Valda Ehrman, Mrs. Anna McMahon and Howard Shey, all of Wiota, Mrs. Winnie Witt of Omaha, Mrs. Esther Franz of Seattle, Wash., and Dan S. Shey of Red Oak; ten grandson, three granddaughters, four great grandchildren, and one sister.
