Ill health was given as the mo-
tive prompting the suicide of Miss
Olive Ruth Anderson, 23, who shot
herself Sunday afternoon at the
family home a mile north of Lorah.
Miss Anderson had been in poor
health for some time.

While her father, Andrew An-
derson, was at a neighboring home,
Kees in the yard of the Anderson
was working on a car with James
Kees in the yard of the Anderson
farm. Miss Anderson went to an
upstairs room and removing the
hasp from a locked chest, she ob-
tained a 22 caliber rifle with which
she shot herself in the left temple.
Her body was found by Mr. Ander-
son about 4:30, but the young wo-
man had been dead about an hour
and a half.

A physician and Coroner B. L.
Roland of Atlantic were summoned,
but as it was a clear case of sui-
cide, no inquest was held.

Miss Anderson was born Decem-
ber 8, 1907, in Audubon county. Her
mother, Anna Anderson, died sev-
eral years ago. Surviving are the
father and three brothers, Russell
and Glenn, at home, and Harry, of
Ames.

Funeral services were held Wed-
nesday afternoon at 1:30 at the
Roland, Peacock and Baxter funeral
home in Atlantic, conducted by the
Rev. J. E. Bruner of the Atlantic
Baptist church. Burial was in the
Atlantic cemetery.
