One Man Dead
Four Injured
In Car Crash

Lorah Man Dies of Injuries
Following Car Accident
Saturday Night

Harvey D. Worthington of Lorah
died early Sunday morning at the
Jones hosptial in Atlantic from in-
juries sustained in an atuomobile
crash about seven miles north of
Audubon. The accident occurred
about 10:30 when Worthington's
car and one belonging to Harvey
Hoegh of Brayton crashed headon.

Floyd Woolsey of Atlantic, who
was riding with Worthington, is at
the Jones hospital in a critical con-
dition. His pelvic bone was frac-
tured and his bladder ruptured.
Last reports state that he will re-
cover unless complications develop.

Roscoe Smith of Brayton, who
was driving the Hoegh car, is at
the Carroll hospital recovering from
his injuries which were chiefly
bruises and lacerations about the
head. Harvey Hoegh and Tom Mc-
Govern of Brayton received the
least injuries of the five men in
the accident, Hoegh having bad
lacerations about the face and on
his scalp and McGovern receiving
a broken wrist and bruises.

The Hoegh car was traveling
north at a high rate of speed and
the Worthington car was coming
south on federal highway 71 when
the accident occurred. As the
Worthington car neared the other
a front tire blew out causing it to
swerve to the left and into the path
of the Hoegh car. The impact of
the collision was so terrific that
the coupe was almost completely
demolished and it was thrown to
the ditch at the left side of the
highway. The Hoegh car stayed
on the highway but was badly dam-
aged.

Worthington's skull was frac-
tured, his chest crushed and his
lungs punctured. After receiving
first aid at the office of Dr. Jensen
in Audubon he was taken to Atlan-
tic, where he died about three
hours after the accident. He is
survived by his widow, who is post-
mistress at Lorah, two children, his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wor-
thington of Fontanelle and one
brother, George, who resides near
Bo?ea.
