Gail Roots, 58, Dies in Council Bluffs Hospital. Gail Roots, 58, retired mechanic and farm worker, died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. He was a resident of Royal Oaks II, 501 East Fifth. The son of John R. and Minnie Christensen Roots, he was born Oct. 7, 1925 near Wiota and lived all his life in this area. He attended school in the Massena vicinity and moved in 1945 to Anita where he was employed as a mechanic. He later worked as a mechanic in Atlantic and in 1958 moved to Lewis where he was self-employed. He was later employed as a farm h and and night watchman at the Cass County Farm. Mr Roots made his home at the Royal Oaks II the last five years and did custodial work there until failing health caused him to retire. Surviving are a half brother, Glen Christensen of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Opal Kramer of Atlantic and a number of nieces and nephews, including Loretta Kramer of Des Moines and Larry Kramer of Thornton, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother, Earl and a half sister, Ethel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Roland Funeral Home with Al Hazelton of the First Assembly of God officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis.
