Short Illness

Young Wife Passes At Jones
Hospital Saturday. Fun-
eral Tuesday

Violet Durham, wife of Russell
Durham of Anita, died at the Jones
hospital in Atlantic Saturday fol-
lowing a brief illness. She was a
daughter of Chris and Mary Peter-
sen, former Exira residents, and re-
sided in this vicinity until 1916.

Funeral services were held Tues-
day afternoon at the home in Anita
and at the Seventh Day Adventist
church in Exira conducted by J. R.
Nelson of Audubon, district super-
intendent of Seventh Day Adven-
tists. Burial was in the Exira
cemetery.

Violet E. Durham was born at
Exira August 27, 1910. She accep-
ted Christ as her Savior at a camp
meeting in Nevada in 1916, joining
the Seventh Day Adventist church.
In the same year her parents moved
to Anita where Violet attended the
high school and graduated with the
class of 1930. Following her grad-
uation on July 19, 1930, she was
united in marriage to Russell Dur-
ham of Wolsey, S. D.

She and her husband were living
with her mother in Anita at the
time of her last illness. All that
loved ones could possibly do
was done for her and she was tak-
en to the Jones hospital in Atlan-
tic on Friday and died the next day
at 2:30 in the afternoon. Violet al-
ways looked on the bright side of
life and was a source of inspiration
to all who knew her. She main-
ed a cheerful disposition until
the last.

Besides her husand, she leaves
to mourn her loss; her father and
mother, one sister, Mrs. Raymond
Sorensen of Exira, two brothers,
Victor of Exira and Harvey of
Anita, four grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. P. Wilson of Anita and Mr.
and Mrs. Peter Petersen of Exira
and many other relatives and
friends.
