Harold R. Lafrentz, 80

WALNUT—HAROLD RUDOLF LAFRENTZ, son of RUDOLP and AUGUSTA BEES LAFRENTZ, was born at Walnut on Oct. 24, 1906. He attended school in Walnut, graduating with the class of 1925. In 1928, he opened the Lafrentz Standard Service in Walnut.

He married EMMA KOOS on May 24, 1932. They made their home in Walnut and continued to operate their oil station with Mrs. Lafrentz in charge when he was called into the Army during WWII. They were parents of one son, Robert. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and American Legion Post No. 422, both at Walnut.

Emma died on April 18, 1977, but he stayed in his own home until moving into Peace Haven in Walnut in 1983. He died on Dec. 2, 1986 at Clarkson hospital in Omaha, NE. at age 80 years. A large surprise party arranged by his granddaughters and held at a restaurant in Walnut on his 80th birthday was a highlight of his last year.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Emma; one infant brother and two sisters, FLORENCE LAFRENTZ and VERNETTA SHARP. He is survived by his son, ROBERT of Walnut; their four daughters, DIANE (MRS. TOM) TROLL, DEBRA (MRS. MAX) PETERSEN, DONA (MRS. DION) GROOMS and DOREEN SUE LAFRENTA. He is also survived by one sister, BERNICE LARSON of Walnut; besides other relatives.

Funeral services were held Dec. 5, 1986 at Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut, with Rev. Wayne Selsor, Interim pastor, officiating with James Tooley, John Krumm, Paul Riley, Dale Lynch, Russell Lehnhardt and Charles Walter serving as casket bearers. Burial was in the Walnut cemetery at Walnut.
