This was taken from a clipping that did not give the name of the paper, though I suspect it was printed in the Fontanelle Observer. “Christian Krosberg Jorgensen son of Peter and Sophia Jorgensen, was born at Alborg, Denmark December 27, 1891 and passed away August 31, 1977 at the age of 85 years 8 months and 4 days. Chris was baptized and raised in the Danish Lutheran faith. He came to the United States at the age of 15, first going to Whiting, South Dakota where he worked for a farmer. He later went to Brainerd, Minnesota where he worked in a lumber camp. In 1911 he came to Cass County, Iowa and started farming near Massena. On July 4, 1912 he was married to Winnie E. Matthews. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom survive. They continued to farm in Cass County until 1972 when ill health of his wife forced them to quit and move into Fontanelle. He enjoyed frequent visits form his children and grandchildren and he loved to go driving around his farms. It was on one of these drivers that he suffered a fatal heart attack. Left to mourn his loss are his eight children: Neal and wife Phyllis; Helen and husband Robert Hendersen; Harold Theodore (Ted) and wife Shirley; Agnes and husband Joe Zimmerline; Gerald and wife Lois; Wilma Jameson; Edna Mae and husband Calvin Finck; Merle and wife Pat. There are 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Erma Jorgensen of Casey and Mrs. Leone Donahue of Shreveport, Louisiana – many nieces and nephews and host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie, a son Wayne at age 2, in Aug 1921 and a daughter Roberta, age 6, in December 1921, two sons in law Fred Bakerink and Keith Jameson. Also one brother Dan of Stuart, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Kristina Swansen of Winnipeg Canada, Marie Jensen, Alborg, Denmark. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 2, at 2 pm at the Ewing Funeral Home in Fontanelle with Rev. Alfred Clark officiating.”

“Our Mamma and Daddy - They walked life’s road together. They shared its tears and joys. Their home was very richly bless with children, five girls and five boys. Their years together, nearly 62, saw many changing ways. But they didn’t age as others did. They lived and loved those may days until illness came and she was called to enter her heavenly home. He called out “Mamma don’t leave me here on earth – I can’t bear to live here all alone.” The years passed but still even though we gave to him or love, it seemed he yearned to be with her and each day he grew closer to the place above, so God came forth an took him – no longer is he all alone. Our hearts cry out for both are gone. The house is there, but it is no longer home. Now they walk again together on roads all paved with gold in God’s house they’ll live forever, and will never grow old.”
