Mrs. Ann Williams, a former resident of Cass county, died at her home in Pasadena, Cal., on Nov. 15, 1913. Mrs. Williams was the widow of N. R. Williams and with him came to Cass county in 1874, where they lived for twenty years, removing to California in 1894. She was a native of Ohio, was 83 years of age, and had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since her early girlhood.
Five daughters survive her: Miss Ada Williams and Miss Belle Williams of Pasadena, Cal.; Mrs. O. Blakeslee of Ames, Ia.; Mrs. G. F. Ostrander of Glenwood and Mrs. C. B. Lewis of Atlantic.
The following tribute to Mother Williams was written by Owen Kinsman, also a former resident of Cass county but for many years a friend and neighbor of deceased in her California home:
O soft winds blow gently, disturb not her sleep,
For Mother is resting, then why should we weep;
The road has been long and the hills have been steep,
And so being wearied, age lulled her to sleep.

But once she was young, with a step like the fawn,
With cheeks like the roses, at blush of the dawn;
She was brave, kind and gentle, always so true,
And loved the green fields where the wild flowers grew.

She loved the church music, it’s bells’ silver chimes.
Her bright star of hope and her faith were sublime;
She was firm like the oak, in life’s stormy hours,
But during its sunshine was both vine and flowers.

With tired hands folded across her stilled breast,
O, song bird sing softly, disturb not her rest;
Sweet flowers are the tributes that kind neighbors send,
Farewell, gentle mother, kind sister, true friend.
