Mrs. Hannah Malissa Blakeslee, 77, native of Indiana and well known resident of Cass county for fifty-six years died at 9 o’clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Ackerman, King apartments.
She had been seriously ill since July with heart disease.
Lived Here 20 Years.
Mrs. Blakeslee was born July 12, 1853, near South Bend, Ind., the daughter of the late Nathan and Ann Williams. She came to Linn county, Ia., with her parents in 1865 where she was married to Obed Blakeslee in 1872, who died about thirty years ago. In 1874 they came to Cass county and had lived here until their respective deaths.
The deceased had been a resident of Atlantic about twenty years, moving to the city from a farm and living with her children since moving here.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
The Survivors.
Surviving are four children, Orrin Blakeslee of Fort Collins, Colo., Mrs. Inez Reynolds of Marne, Ralph Blakeslee of Omaha and Mrs. Ackerman of this city. There are thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and four sisters. The sisters are Mrs. C. B. Lewis of Atlantic, Mrs. Anna Ostrander of Glenwood and Misses Ada and Belle Williams of Pasadena, Cal. Three children preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Osborne-Tomlinson funeral home. The Rev. Warren H. Meredith, pastor of the Methodist church, will be in charge of the rites and interment will be in Brighton cemetery near Marne.
