Triplett-Harris wedding.

Wednesday at 2 p.m. Miss Edith A. Harris, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R. Harris, was united in marriage with Mr. J. E. Triplett, of Atlantic, the Rev. E. S. Hill of Atlantic, officiating. It was just as the clock was striking two, while Miss Randolph was playing the bridal march from Lohengrin, that the wedding couple, preceeded by the groom’s brother, Grant Triplett, and Miss Mae McIlvane, entered the room, Dr. Hill with impressiveness pronounced the most appropriate and beautiful ceremony, the Rev. Hinkhouse invoked the Divine blessing, and “Mr. and Mrs. Triplett” received the congratulations and good wishes of those assembled. There were present from Atlantic, Mr. and Mrs. Triplett, parents of the groom, also an aunt and a sister; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harris, uncle and aunt of Dr. Harris; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Harris, cousins of Dr. Harris; Miss May Lamb and Mr. and Mrs. Tobins, friends. There were also present a few near friends from this vicinity. The presence of Dr. Hill, an old friend of both families and the honored pastor of the Congregational church of Atlantic, for the past quarter of a century, was a source of much enjoyment to all.

The bride is a graduate of our high school and has successfully taught for several terms. She is a beautiful girl and in every way seems fitted to make home a joy. The groom is a fine appearing young man and of good education and address. He served his country in the Spanish-American war. His parents have a good farm home a few miles north west of Atlantic and with them the bride and groom will make their home for the present. These two families are of old acquaintance and the marriage seems to be an appropriate and happy one. May it be blessed with life’s choicest gifts! –Audubon Republican.

A social gathering, attended by a number of Atlantic people, was held November 28 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Junius E. Triplett, who with her husband, is spending the winter in California. A picnic lucheon [luncheon] was served at noon, and Mr. and Mrs. Triplett were the recipients of a number of gifts.

Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Woodward; Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Larsen and two children; Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Wilburn and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hedge, all of Los Angeles; Mr. Ed Harris of Pasadena, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Roswell P. Harris and L. G. Harris from Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs. George Oakes and two sons of Walnut Park; Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Taylor of Rivera; Mrs. David Shenton and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Triplett of Atlantic, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Triplett, the latter of whom was Miss Edith Harris, were married in Audubon, at the home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. R. S. Harris, by the Rev. E. S. Hill, pastor of the Atlantic Congregational church. His parents were the only guests present at both the wedding and the anniversary.

Mrs. Triplett’s girlhood was spent in Cass and Audubon counties, while previous to their marriage Mr. Triplett lived for many years in the Buck Creek neighborhood: He is a veteran of the Spanish-American war. In 1905 Mr. and Mrs. Triplett moved to Los Angeles. They have three children, Leona, Dale and Ruth.
