TWO WEDDINGS HERE YESTERDAY

MISS MILDRED FUDGE BECOMES BRIDE OF EARL SMILEY—MISS VIVA SIMONS WEDS ALVA C. FOUTS.

Both Couples Well Known and Estimable Young Folks and Have the Best Wishes of a Host of Friends.

At the home of the bride’s parents, J. O. Fudge and wife, at four o’clock yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Elias Handy, pastor of the M. E. church, pronounced the words which made Miss Mildred Fudge of this city and Earl Smiley of Malcolm man and wife. Promptly at the appointed hour, to the strains of the wedding march, Mendelssohn’s played by Miss Rhea Gillett, the bridal couple, unattended, took their places in the west window of the parlor which had been transformed into a bower for the ceremony, and there the service was said. The home was prettily decorated for the occasion, smilax, ferns and white carnations being used in the decorations.

The bride was gowned in white voile, trimmed with cobweb lace and messaline and carried a shower boquet [bouquet] of white roses and sweet peas.

Only the relatives and a few intimate friends witnessed the ceremony, the guest numbering about thirty-five. After the ceremony a three course wedding supper was served in the dining room, the tables being decorated in smilax and white carnations.

Both of the young people have a host of friends. The bride is an Atlantic product and is a deservedly popular young woman. The groom is a brother of Matt Smiley, who married Miss Jessie Locke in this city some time ago and is a rising young farmer of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Smiley left last evening for Grinnell to spend a few days, after which they will go to Chickasaw county, and will live on a farm near New Hampton.

The out of town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Smiley, the groom’s parents, of Grinnell; Mr. and Mrs. Wright of Stuart, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.

The New-Telegraph extends its best wishes to these young people for their continued happiness.
