Manning - Funeral services for Annina Catherine Martens, 76, of Manning, who was found dead at her home Wednesday morning, June 8, will be held in Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, with the Rev. George Eschenbacher officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Nephews of Miss Martens will be pallbearers.

A lifetime resident of the Manning community, Miss Martens was born in Washington Township, October 8, 1883. Her parents were the late Detlef and Caroline Martens, her mother having died when she was eight years old.

Miss Martens attended rural schools in the Manning area and Manning Public Schools. At the age of 15, she started keeping house for her father and later served as house keeper for her brother, Peter A. Martens, who died in 1955.

Her death followed an extended illness.

Surviving are three brothers, John, Detlef and Henry Martens, of Manning and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Witt; and two brothers, William and Peter Martens.
