Page 2Manning – Mrs. Herman (Laura) Hargens, 84, of Manning, died early Sunday, June 5, at the Manning Plaza.
Friends and relatives may call at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, after 4 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Jones of Manning Methodist Church officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn.
Judy Joens will be vocalist. Pallbearers will be her grandson.
Interment will be at the Manning City Cemetery.
She was born on June 9, 1893 to Fardinand and Anna Jansen in Clinton County. The family mved to Manning when she was a young girl, and she attended the Manning area country schools.
On Feb. 21, 1912 she was united in marriage to Herman Hargens. They famed in the Aspinwall and Manning area and moved to Manning in 1937.
Mrs. Hargens was a member of the Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women (U. M. W.)Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Irene) Hansen of Manning and Mrs. Gilbert (Elaine) Kroeger of Westside; four sons, Donald of Bayton, Dewey of Westside, Merlyn of Manning and Wayne of West Des Moines; 30 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Emma Kaasch of Council Bluffs.
Preceding her in death were: her parents; two children Harold and Luisa, an infant daughter; three sisters; four brothers and one grandson.
