Manning- Funeral services for Mrs. Emil (Pearl) Kuhl, 85, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Donald Jones, pastor of the United Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the Manning cemetery. Mrs. Kuhl, who worked in the family restaurant business until her retirement in 1957, died Friday, Oct. 31, at the Manning General Hospital. Mrs. Dorothy Kusel was organist at the final rites and Raymond Pratt was soloist. Casket-bearers were Henry Koester, Cliff Smith, Charles Laerty, Leo Bruck, Merlin Struve and Ronnie Hiatt. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Kuhl, Denison; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; a brother Joe Esycheck, Manning; two sisters: Mrs. Ollie Mohr, Manning, and Mrs. Rose Glorfield, Rock Island, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great- grandson, a brother and three sisters. Mrs. Kuhl was born Feb. 15, 1895, near Woodbine, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Ferek Esycheck. She attended schools near Woodbine and Earling. On Dec. 18, 1914, she was married to Emil Kuhl. They lived in Manning their entire married life, operating the family restaurant. Her husband died July 1, 1973. She continued to live in Manning making her home with her brother Joe Esycheck. Mrs. Kuhl was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the United Methodist church.
