Lidderdale - Funeral service for Marilyn Holmes of Lidderdale will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Miss Holmes, 64, died Tuesday, March 16, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines after suffering a stroke on Sunday, March 14. The Rev. Ray Reinboldt of Immanuel Lutheran church in Lidderdale and the Rev. Patrick Sparling of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning will con-celebrate the service. Music will be by organist Fern Jensen and the congregation. Casket bearers will be Marty Bogatzke, Craig Bogatzke, John Radtke, Josh Miller, Scott Kalbaugh and Tony Linder. Honorary casket bearers will be Todd Bogatzke, Steve Fogleman and Dale Newman Jr. burial will be in Manning Cemetery. Visitation started at 5 this afternoon at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. A daughter of Karl R. and Amanda (Dammann) Bogatzke, she was born Nov. 6, 1939, at home south of Manning in Carroll County. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church near her home and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She attended rural school and graduated from Manning High School in 1958. Following her graduation she worked in Wisconsin, where she met Dan Holmes from Manilla. They were married in May 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church near her childhood home. The couple had three children. The family lived in Milwaukee, Wis., then Burlington, Wis., for a short time. After returning to Iowa in 1970 they made their home in Arcadia and she worked in the records department at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. After moving to Boyer, she was a sales representative for several companies and held clerical and bookkeeping positions before working in the Early and Carroll post offices. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale where she had lived for the past seven years. She was devoted to her family and lovingly cared for her handicapped daughter, Danette. She loved to laugh, have a good time and spend time with her friends. She is survived by her children: Daniel Holmes and his wife, Denise, of Mount Carmel, Jeffrey Holmes and his wife, Della, of Odebolt and Danette Holmes of Sioux City; two grandchildren, her mother, Amanda Bogatzke, of Manning; two brothers: Marvin Bogatzke and wife, Donna Faye, of Memphis, Mo., and Myron Bogatzke and his wife, Wilma, of Manning; a sister, Marlene Radtke, of Oregon, Wis., and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; a granddaughter, Hope Victoria Holmes; and a sister, Mae Fogleman.
