Clive - Funeral service for Elke Bunz of Clive was held Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Faith Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Miss Bunz, 64, died Friday, Feb. 6, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Manning Cemetery. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is handling local arrangements. A daughter of Johannes and Auguste (Kolln) Bunz, she was born March 29, 1939, in Manning and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church there. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University and attend Oregon State University. She taught in a Paso Robles, Calif., school system and also taught and lived in San Luis Obispo, Calif., for 39 years before moving to Clive in 2003. Survivors include a brother, Claus Bunz and his wife, Judy, on Manning; a nephew, John Bunz and his wife, Susan, of Clive; two nieces: Sara Pulse and her husband, Pastor Jeffry of Bremerton, Wash., and Anne Sheeley and her husband Matthew, of Urbandale; and seven grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Bryce Durate.
