Edward Frank Musfeldt, 76, of Omaha and formerly of Manning, died Monday, Jan. 31, 1994, at Bergan Mercy Care Center in Omaha. Funeral services for Mr. Musfeldt will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Robert Riggert will officiate the services. Casket bearers will be Tom Musfledt, Sam Musfeldt, Mike Nystrom, Tom Prince, Mark Nieland and Donald M. Nieland. Honorary casket bearers will be Kenneth Ewoldt, Warren Peterson and Alvan Hansen. Burial will be in the Manning City Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Emil Ewoldt Post 22 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3517 in Manning. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Born June 11, 1917, on the family farm near Manning, he was a son of John and Minnie (Hell) Musfeldt. He attended country school and later attended Manning High School. Mr. Musfeldt served in the army during World War II. After being discharge, he married Bertha Rose Henney in Pennsylvania. The couple moved to Manning where he operated the DX bulk plant and tank wagon service. After his wife's death in 1956, he continued to live in Manning. On Jan. 4, 1959, he married Carol Prince in Mt. Pleasant. They lived in Manning until July of 1961 when they moved to Omaha. Mr. Manning worked with Champlin Oil Company and then sold institutional groceries and auto parts until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Musfeldt was diagnosed with prostrate cancer in 1988. His health began to fail in December of 1993. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha and the American Legion Post 1 in Omaha. Survivors include his wife, Carol of Omaha; two brothers, Albert Musfeldt and his wife Arlene, of Manning and Robert Musfeldt and his wife Elizabeth of Chiefland, Fla.; a sister, Elda Gaskill of Audubon; two sister-in-laws, Lydia Musfeldt and Ida Musfeldt both of Manning; and his mother-in-law, Glennie Prince of Carroll. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bertha; two brothers Herman and and John Musfeldt; a sister, Melinda Johannsen; and two brother-in-laws, Edmund Gaskill and Herman Johannsen.
