April 2, 1942 - Glidden Graphic

Grace Jane Hunter, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Hunter was born at Scranton, Iowa, on March 27, 1872, and departed this life at her home in Rippey, Iowa, on March 30, 1942, at 11:00 o'clock in the evening at the age of 70 years and 3 days.

On March 31st, 1902, she was united in marriage at Carroll, Iowa, to Leonard J. Jacobus.

She gave her heart to God in conversion in early girlhood and throughout her eventful life she labored in the vineyard of the Lord faithfully and well. She grew up to be a friendly, neighborly and intelligent Godly woman, who endeared herself to all who knew her. While no children came to bless her own home, she gathered the children of the various communities where she lived into her affections.

She was a student of Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill., and before her marriage taught school and worked in a bank. In these and numerous other ways she managed to spend a useful and helpful life. She was a member of this church at the time of her death.

Besides the bereaved husband, who survives her, there remains to mourn her passing a niece, Mrs. Grace Ludwig of Miami, Florida, and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Methodist church, Rippey, Iowa, on Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 1942, at 2:00 o'clock by the Rev. Louis Henre Joslin, minister of the church. Interment was made in the Glidden cemetery.
